Obituary - Dean Wilson Bateman

Dean Wilson Bateman, our loved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother died peacefully at home of kidney failure on January 21, 2003. Dean non-judgmentally loved all people and was loved in return by them.

Dean was born March 18, 1919 to Thomas Philip and Josephine Wilson Bateman.  He married Sybil Greer on September 1, 1942 and they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple October 18, 1973.

Dean was born in and died in the family home on the farm in West Jordan where he and Sybil loved and taught their children and grandchildren. The many people he knew and loved gave meaning to his life.  Dean served as a temple worker at the Jordan River Temple, in various positions in the church and served a mission to Baton Rouge, La with Sybil. Many people, among them his 27 eagle scouts, will have fond memories of the many years Dean spent as a scoutmaster and friend to young men. The grandchildren are thankful for the time they spent with him and the many things they learned as they worked by his side.

He is survived by his wife, Sybil; sons Kent (Sharon),Wayne (Ranae), Lynn (Gail) and daughters Brenda (Gary) Jeppson, and Diana (Ralph) Parker; brother Dale and sister Joy. His posterity includes 31 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers friends may want to consider donating to Primary Children’s Medical Center or the Boy Scouts of America.
